After searching for an hour in vain for suitable rope making material — climbing over fallen trees, trampling through dense brush — we discovered we had the perfect plant growing right here in our camp, right along the shoreline of Bushy Bay.
I have no idea what this sand plant is called, but its stringy roots are long and durable — perfect binding material to build that raft we’ve been talking about for awhile.
(Sometimes we search and search and search for something, when what we’re really searching for is right there in front of us…buried in the sand.)
