[Warning: this video may upset some]
A recent survey in Britain revealed that 1 in 10 young adults believe that eggs come from wheat. Wheat? Even more disturbing, a third of them have no idea that bacon comes from pigs. It’s hard to believe, but not so surprising. We live in a pre-wrapped, pre-washed, on the go, ready to serve world, where things are handed to us on shiny platters, or delivered direct to our door. Can we blame these kids?
We put “pluck a chicken” on our list because we wanted to experience the whole process, straight from the coop to our kitchen table. Surprisingly, it was a pretty quick procedure, not pleasant by any means, but definitely informative. I am glad we did it. Perhaps they should mandate this activity in the British educational system? If not this, then definitely this.
