We heard from a local that hidden inside the escarpment of the Pine Ridge Forest Reserve we’d find a waterfall, 80 feet high, plummeting into a deep, perfectly round pool of fresh water.

Knowing that we had “Shower in a waterfall” on our list of things to do, we hopped into our battered 4wd Suzuki rental and drove into the mountains of southern central Belize in search of the mysterious Big Rock Falls. A two-hour drive later, down a steep and rocky foot trail, we finally heard the sound of Big Rock echoing through the valley.
