So far on our 365 list we’ve knocked off a number of “fire” related to-do’s: we’ve cooked dinner in an earth oven, made stew with a tripod, learned how to start a fire with flint & tinder, and made our very own char cloth. I suppose we’re preparing ourselves for the day when we’re both stranded in the bush, with nothing but the clothes on our backs. It could happen. You never know?
Last week we killed a chicken, plucked its feathers off one by one, washed it, cleaned it, and then prepared it for meal time — a little salt, pepper and paprika. Then we built a fire and spit out back behind John’s parents’ house and cooked that bird to perfection.
It tasted as good as it looks.
