162) Operate a backhoe 1 Jul 2012

Sunday morning / 10:30am:

In the same weekend that we hand-milked a cow, drove a tractor, chopped down a tree with an axe, used a chainsaw and a wood splitter, filleted a fish, wore a rope belt, GT’d on the back of a four wheeler, plucked a chicken, and threw a spaghetti fight, we also drove a backhoe! There’s no logical explanation for this occurrence, except that we happen to know someone who knows someone who owns a backhoe who was willing (and crazy enough) to allow me (I don’t even have a driver’s license) to operate it. What we learned in the process? We learned there’s plenty of fun to be had in digging a giant hole in the ground, and then filling it back up with dirt again.
