I’d like to think that if we ever had a major calamity that shut down the entire city, including grocery stores and fresh food markets, we’d fare just fine with the canned food (we never use) in our cupboards.
Last week, using canned Spam, canned mushrooms, canned tomatoes, canned hearts of palm, canned potatoes, canned pickled onions, canned green beans, and a little garlic, salt & pepper, we concocted a seriously Spam-tastic meal that only half-sucked. As we learned, there’s no escaping the realities of sodium-loaded, preservative-infused pseudo food, no matter how exquisitely you plate it up.
